BEGINNER LEVEL 1

LEARN THE ENGLISH ALPHABET

Young learners who are already familiar with the English alphabet start on this level of the program.

Every lesson starts with a greeting, talking about how we feel, the weather outside etc. and every lesson focuses on a different letter of the alphabet.

When teaching English words that start with the letter being introduced, we focus on phonics (the correct sound each letter and the combination of letters make) and the correct pronunciation of words.

Fun and interactive games are used to get the learner to correctly identify the words they have learnt and to practice sounding out the words correctly. We also listen to songs relating to the lesson.

Young learners learn to read by using sight words and the new words they have learnt, in short picture sentences.

The lesson structure and method of teaching is repetitive, as repetition is a powerful tool for helping the brain to encode and retain new information, particularly when learning a new language.

After successfully completing this level of the program, the learner is promoted to Beginner Level 2.
