Start the day
Write down 10 new Blessings and why you are grateful for them. Read each one repeating “thank you, thank you, thank you“, feeling gratitude for each one.
We have all, at certain times in our lives, been blessed with people who were there for us and changed our lives for the better. Whether they guided us or advised us or helped us through a bad time. Maybe they were just there at the right time with the right words, to listen to us or encourage us. And think of all the wonderful people who have taught us something which has made a difference in our lives and, in many cases, continues to make a difference.
It could have been a teacher, a family member, a friend, a team-mate, a work colleague, a doctor or counselor, someone you briefly encountered on the bus, train or at a function or shopping mall.
Some of these people may have had a very noticeable impact on our lives at the time, or we might only realise that impact much later when looking back.
Can you think of anyone who was instrumental in changing the direction of your life for the better, at a time when you really needed that?
Can you remember someone who taught you something which you truly value and appreciate or live by, today?
If you are passionate about something, did that stem from encouragement or inspiration you received from someone in your life?
Can you think of any moment of enlightenment, understanding, love, purpose, inspiration or joy, that you know came from a time spent with an extraordinary person in your life at that time?
Today, take some time and think of three special people who have made such a difference in your life. Then spend a few moments thanking each person aloud, telling them the reasons why you are grateful to them. Explain to them the positive effect they had or have on your life. Be as detailed as you, and talk to them as though they were there with you. Talk to each one for as long as you want to and make sure that they can feel the gratitude you are feeling.
Rhonda Byrne says that it is important do this practice in one session as this increases your level of gratitude. The deeper the level of gratitude you feel and express, the more the Magic of Gratitude will work in your life.
She goes on to say “When you have completed this practice, you will feel a huge difference in the way that you feel. The evidence of gratitude’s power working is always that first and foremost it makes you happy! The secondary evidence of gratitude’s power is that you attract wonderful things. And as if all of that wasn’t enough, the happiness you feel after practicing gratitude also attracts more wonderful things, which will make you even happier. That’s the magic of life, and that’s the magical power of gratitude!”
End the day
When you go to bed tonight hold your Magic Rock in your hand. Close your fingers around it and feel it. Think of all the good things that have happened today. Choose the best good thing that happened and, feeling as grateful as you can, say “thank you, thank you, thank you”.
