 ADVENTURES OF THE DAY

Let the sun shine, let the sunshine in, the sun shine in……..

They woke up, to a beautiful sunny day.  The weather outside exactly what they had been waiting for.  It was immediately agreed that today would be a day soaking up the sun on the beach and scooter-free, as they were both feeling a little bit stiff after the scooter tumble the previous day.

Remembering their first day walk, both were eager to swim across to the small island off Choengmon Beach, so they packed carefully and wrapped their cell phones and cigarettes in plastic bags to keep them dry.  However this was not necessary, as they soon discovered, the water was knee deep at the most when crossing over.

They found a nice sandy spot for their belongings and took to exploring the island.  There were sign posts which indicated that the island was privately owned but not closed to public.

It would appear that the owner was in the process of erecting a number of buildings but they could not see any completed structures.  They found a pathway through the trees and came upon a rock pool where they could more clearly see the Thongson Bay headland they had explored the day before.  After taking a number of photographs from this and other viewpoints on the island, they took a lengthy cooling swim, before catching up on a tan.

They then walked back to Choengmon Beach hand in hand very relaxed and thankful and couldn’t help feeling that they were living their dream.  As they couldn’t get enough of the cooling waters, they swam out to where an Island Hopper boat had anchored in the deep waters.  While they swam around, they watched the island hoppers diving off the boat.  Seemed like fun was had by all.  Feeling rather hungry they finally headed back to their room and lunch.

After lunch, with ice cold beer and sprite in hand, they headed back to the Hotel pool and found a shady table where they spent the next hour or so playing word games (Bananagrams) and taking a dip in the pool to cool off.

The day ended with a sunset swim at the beach.  While bobbing in the waves with the sun setting in the West and the Moon shining in the East, they watched as the beach front lit up and transformed into a holiday makers evening paradise. The restaurants setting up for their evening guests.

By now Richard was looking somewhat like a lobster.  That is to be expected when you don’t take advice from “Nagging” Mandy to put on sunblock!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY

This was their first day of tropical island swimming and fun in the sun at Choengmon Beach since they arrived.  And it was amazing…….
