There is a post currently circulating on Facebook from “Nightbirde”. Simone Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer in “America’s Got Talent” for this young lady who sang from her heart about your journey and fight against cancer. Her quote, “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore, before you decide to be happy”, has gone viral.
Wow, I got goosebumps listening to her sing and how true are her words. We cannot wait for life to not be hard anymore, to be happy. We cannot allow sadness and loss to consume us.
I need to refocus on living life to the full, to reassess all the things that are important and apply the things that mean so much to Richard and I, again.
We have always believed and lived by the Universal Law of Attraction. Although there are others who think it’s all hocus pocus, we believe that this Universal Law is continually at work in our lives, with or without our intention.
Lao Tzu, an ancient Chinese philosopher, once said: “Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
The idea that we attract what we put out, has clearly been around since ancient times.
There will always be things to be unhappy about, but rather than dwelling on the negative and things that are going wrong, we all need to find things to be grateful and thankful for. We need to make a conscious decision to be happy.
So, looking back at this photograph, taken more than a year ago, from the roof top pool & bar of the hotel across from our apartment, reinforces our belief in what you put out, you attract into your life.
Note the wall to the left of the swimming pool of our apartment building. This wall separated the apartment from the adjacent neighboring property with its small red roofed Khmer house.
Unknowingly at the time, the adjacent property would be vacated and sold to our landlords.
We had moved away from this apartment building before, into a house share. When the lease expired we found ourselves moving back to this apartment building as we had missed the energy and feel of the place.
We were very happy living in our lovely studio apartment but it felt confined at times and we longed for more space. Although we knew we needed more space, we just couldn’t get ourselves to move away again as we would miss the energy and feel of our apartment and the relationship we had built with our landlords.
Shortly after taking this photograph our landlords very excitedly shared their news with us. They had bought the property next door and were willing to build a more spacious apartment for us, if we would consider renting it.
This is how the Law of Attraction works. What you put out and focus your attention on, you attract.
We watched in anticipation when the wall separating the two properties and the house next door were demolished and the building project for the new apartments started.
We were included in choosing the tiles, the design and layout of the kitchen and various fittings and we were often invited over by our landlords to come and look at the progress they were making.
Then unfortunately, COVID hit and with most of the tenants leaving, our landlords were financially unable to meet the initial deadline and the completion date of the new apartments, were extended from month to month.
But as the saying goes, “all good things come to those that wait”.
Now when I needed it the most, our new apartment was finally completed and we were able to move in.
Our beautiful new apartment has a lovely bedroom with a big window facing the garden, a separate room for the ESL for LIFE office, a fully functional kitchen, a bathroom with a bath tub and space to entertain. We were spending 24/7 in one room together and now we have space when we need private time. It’s wonderful!
Our small, private garden is lush green and so peaceful. We get to enjoy the view every morning when we open the curtains. Looking out at the garden while we have our morning coffee, from the comfort of our bed, is such a blessing. A perfect start to each day, admiring the plants and being thankful and grateful for our life here in Cambodia. It’s these little things in life that make us both so happy.
Moving over and redecorating has been a very therapeutic time for me and has kept me busy. This move and fresh new start, could not have come at a better time.
We have both been through a very trying and difficult few months. But we will continue to be grateful and thankful for our many blessings and we choose to be happy.
We would like to welcome you to our new apartment and will share more pictures as we transform it into our new home.
We look forward to reading your comments below.
Namaste’ and remember, choose to be happy NOW!
