2018 – Our journey into mindfulness

As 2017 drew to a close, we were increasingly inspired to reflect on the year past. The physical journey, the places seen, the memories and experiences, the people encountered, the friendships found, and especially, the changes and growth within ourselves. It is said that life can be seen as a tapestry. The past year, then, was one of vibrant colours, swirling patterns and shapes, threads intertwining with a magical beauty. Each thread a story unto itself, and together, all telling a story of life, love, adventure, happiness and joy, wonder and excitement, difficulties overcome, smiles and laughter and tears.

Our farewells to the year included an early-Christmas poolside barbecue with our landlords and fellow tenants a few days before Christmas, a three-day visit to Aranyaprathet, just across the border in Thailand where we spent a delightful Christmas Eve, returning back home to Siem Reap for a relaxing Christmas day. New Years Eve saw a rooftop fire ceremony accompanied by city-wide fireworks displays lighting up the night sky all around.

In our fire ceremony we place two lists into the fire. One, a list of things we wish to leave behind from the year past, and the second, a list of wishes, dreams, aspirations or goals we have for the year ahead. We offer these to the Universe also giving thanks to the Universe for all we have received and all we are still to receive.

Which brings us to 2018. Whereas 2017 was the year of physical journeys, growing awareness of the need to deprogram and the start of self-discovery, 2018 will be a journey into mindfulness, building on the experiences and lessons of last year.

When we chatted about two inspiring conversations Amethyst had with her cousin Juan Locke (The Magic by Rhonda Byrne) and her close personal friend, Malita Rhoode, we realised that we are not alone in our search for mindfulness. There are many people in the world on the same journey. Why not use our Blog to share our spiritual path and experiences with others? We have decided to follow the 28 day journey of gratitude shared by Rhonda Byrne in The Magic (author of The Secret and The Power).

Rhonda believes that a passage in the gospel of Matthew is missing one secret word. The one word that can change your life, and that word is gratitude. In her mind, a verse by Matthew should read, “Whoever has gratitude will be given more, and he or she will have abundance. Whoever does not have gratitude, even what he or she has will be taken from him or her.”

No matter whether you are religious, non-religious, agnostic, spiritual or still seeking answers, the fundamental laws of science and of the universe, the law of attraction (like attracts like) the greatest powers of the universe, LOVE and GRATITUDE, can change your life.

Why gratitude?

In the famous words of the great scientist, Isaac Newton, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Taking that into account, for every action of giving gratitude and thanks, the opposite reaction would be receiving. Therefore, the more gratitude you give, the more you will receive.

An example mentioned by Rhonda in The Magic which resonated with us was that Jesus said “thank you” before performing a miracle. What was Jesus trying to teach? He was teaching not only to give thanks for what we have, but also for what we are yet to receive. For something which we have asked for.

By adopting an attitude of gratitude, being thankful for what you will receive, and believing that you can attract what you wish to receive, you can create your own future.

Rhonda has a 28 day magic formula to change your life that consists of three steps.

The Magic Formula

1. Deliberately think and say the magic words, thank you.
2. The more you deliberately think and say the magic words, thank you, the more gratitude you feel.
3. The more gratitude you deliberately think and feel, the more abundance you receive.

The program consists of 28 consecutive days of 28 magical practices. We start the program on Monday and would like to invite our readers who are interested to join us. It would be helpful if before Monday you purchase the book, The Magic by Rhonda Byrne.

The Magic can also be purchased online.

Amazon

Takelot

However if you do not have the book, our daily Blog will provide you with enough information to enable you to follow the 28 steps. We also suggest that you purchase a journal for your notes or you can document these on a computer.

Before you start the program on Monday you will need to make a detailed list of everything you would like to attract into your life. Rhonda suggests the following categories and encourages you to be as specific as possible.

(extract from The Magic by Rhonda Byrne)

Health and body
Career and work
Money
Relationships
Personal desires
Material things

And then just add the things you want to each category.
When you get clear about the things you want, you are giving a definite direction to the way you want gratitude’s magical power to change
your life, and you are ready to begin the most exciting and thrilling adventure you’ve ever been on!”

We look forward to sharing this journey with you. We will put an update on our Blog on Sunday evening to start this 28 day journey.
