It is said that trekking halfway across the world, leaving behind material belongings, family and friends, and everything familiar, to start a new life in a strange country, is not for the fainthearted. While we do agree, the rewards and experiences are overwhelmingly enriching and worth the “leap into the unknown”.
Having leapt into our once-unknown new life and finding a home to call home and which feels like home, we find that there is something we miss.
Fireside discussions with friends
Sitting around a fire with friends after the braai is done. We’ve all eaten and we’re sipping on our drinks chatting about this and that. As we sit relaxed and looking into the mesmerising flames someone says “Hey, I just read this book which says that our memories are actually stories we make up about our perceived experiences and are not necessarily a true factual account of those experiences. How weird is that?”
And like a flame being fanned, we start talking about this intriguing notion. An hour later, we are putting more wood on the fire and discussing how the brain stores memories. “The brain works on electricity and electricity is energy” says someone. “We are all just made up of energy” they add.
Later we are trying to establish whether energy really can or cannot be created. “Well,” someone says, “it must have been created in the very beginning. Or else where did it come from?” “Ahaa. Why does there have to be a beginning?” says someone else. “Was there time before humans gave it seconds, minutes, hours, days and years?”
More wood finds its way to the fire, and like the sparks that rise up from the flames, the discussions swirl around us and through us. An incredible sharing of thoughts, ideas, concepts and questions.
We have had many such times with friends and would love to have more. We cannot physically sit around a fire with all our friends so we came up with the idea of starting an online gathering place. Somewhere that we could meet up with friends and have these amazing discussions.
Starting an online discussion forum
We have started a discussion forum which we are calling Source Energy Circle. To join click here or the link at the top of the page. Click on Register to join the forum and an email will be sent to you for confirmation. Check your SPAM folder if you do not find the mail in your Inbox. You can create your profile, select your avatar image and much more.
Once you are on the forum, look around and explore the topics already there. We also explain why we chose this title and the objectives of the forum as well as the forum guidelines. We are looking forward to getting together. Keep the fire burning. Namasté
