PRE-BEGINNER LEVEL

This is the 1st level of the ESL for LIFE program.

On this level young learners are taught the English words for things they are familiar with, like colours and shapes. Learning the English words for familiar things, helps to build a young learners self confidence.

English words are introduced by speaking slowly and enunciating the words correctly. The learner is encouraged to repeat the words, to sound them out correctly and to identify them.

As it has been proven that repetition is absolutely necessary when learning a new language, all our lessons follow a repetitive routine and new words are presented several times in different ways.

We play games and listen to related songs to keep the learner engaged and interested.

“Show and Tell” is used to encourage learners to show their own things to the teacher, whether it is their favourite toy, a picture they drew or a fruit they like etc.

This encourages learners to want to use the correct English words, when showing their own special things to the teacher.

The young learner is also taught sight words and how to read easy picture sentences.
